No fewer than 20 people suffered injuries of varying degrees following a petrol tanker explosion at a local filling station in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State.

Mr. Paul Aboi, the Director of Kaduna State Fire Service, shared this distressing news during an interview on Thursday.

Aboi revealed that the victims included five federal firefighters, members of the Kaduna Vigilance Service, and innocent passers-by.

The injured fire service personnel are currently receiving medical care at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital in Kaduna.

The incident occurred while the tanker was offloading petrol at the station on Wednesday.

Aboi attributed the tragic event to negligence on the part of the filling station, emphasizing that offloading such flammable material should not have been conducted in the afternoon.
