Sanwo-Olu presents N2.24trn 2024 budget to Lagos Assembly

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has presented the 2024 budget estimates, titled ‘Budget of Renewal,’ to the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The governor delivered the budget on Wednesday at the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex in Alausa, Ikeja, the state capital.

The proposed budget amounts to N2.2 trillion, with N1.02 trillion allocated to recurrent expenditure, constituting 45% of the total budget, and N1.22 trillion allocated to capital expenditure, making up 55% of the budget.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the 2024 budget, titled ‘The Budget of Renewal,’ builds on previous budgets from four years prior.

He emphasized the health agenda’s focus on infrastructure, personnel welfare, and access to affordable and quality services, especially for the poorest and most vulnerable people.

The healthcare sector in Lagos State is earmarked to receive N151.66 billion in 2024, representing a 1.5% increase from the N149.353 billion allocated in 2023.

For the 2024 fiscal year, the healthcare budget constitutes 6.75% of the total budget.

Once approved, this budget will be distributed across various healthcare entities, including the Lagos State Ministry of Health, primary healthcare board, university teaching hospital, college of medicine, state health management agency, board of traditional medicine, college of nursing and midwifery, health monitoring and accreditation agency, blood transfusion service, accident and emergency center, general hospitals, maternity care facilities, and the health service commission.
