Zulum donates 350 bikes, vehicles to Zamfara security forces

The governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, presented 50 new patrol vehicles and 300 motorcycles to security forces on Friday to boost counterinsurgency efforts in the state.

 

At a presentation ceremony in Maiduguri, Zulum gave the vehicles to the Nigerian Army, police, and various local volunteer forces, including the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), hunters, and local vigilantes.

The governor praised the security agencies for their commitment to restoring peace in Borno, which the Boko Haram insurgency has heavily impacted. He promised continued support for their operations.

 

According to Ali Shettima, executive secretary of the Borno Security Trust Fund, the equipment was procured through the fund established in 2019 to provide logistics for security outfits.

Major General Gold Chibuisi, Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, thanked the state government for the gesture. He assured the vehicles and motorcycles would help improve security across Borno and the surrounding region.

 

We will ensure these facilities count in our areas of responsibility,” Chibuisi stated at the presentation ceremony.

The boost in mobility is expected to aid security forces in conducting patrols and responding to incidents as they battle to stabilize remote areas.
