Zimbabwean pastor commits suicide after sex audio leaked on church Whatsapp group

A Reverend of the United Methodist Church, Oscar Mukahanana, in the Harare East District of Zimbabwe reportedly took his own life after his extramarital affair was exposed on the church’s WhatsApp group.
Reverend Mukahanana was allegedly involved in a sexual relationship with a young female member of his congregation.
The scandal came to light when an audio recording of a private conversation between the two was leaked on the church’s WhatsApp group.
In the audio, Mukahanana expressed his excitement about their encounter and mentioned that it occurred just before the woman’s menstrual cycle.
Following the leak, members of the church began to share the audio widely, leading to widespread mockery of the Reverend.
Local media reported that some even created memes to ridicule Mukahanana over the scandal.
Unable to bear the shame and humiliation, Mukahanana reportedly committed suicide on Friday, October 20.
The United Methodist Church Harare District confirmed the tragic incident in a statement. “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the untimely death of our beloved District Superintendent, Rev Oscar Mukahanana,” the statement read.
The church also requested its members to support the Mukahanana family through prayers during this difficult time.
