Zamfara State is committed to developing sporting activities, according to Isiayaka James, the Executive Secretary of the Directorate of Sports.
He made this statement during a courtesy call from members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in Gusau, the State capital.
James emphasized that Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration prioritizes sports and expressed support for any group dedicated to its development at all levels.
He pledged to provide adequate funding and attention to the sector, aiming to reshape sporting activities and change the narrative in Zamfara.
“With me at the helm of affairs, we shall reshape sporting activities in Zamfara State and change the narrative,” James stated.
He further promised maximum support to SWAN, highlighting their importance in promoting and reporting on sporting events.
The Director of Sports, Nasiru Bakura, and Director of Planning, Shehu Aliyu Zurmi, echoed James’ sentiments.
They commended SWAN and pledged a positive and collaborative working relationship, urging fairness and objectivity in their reporting.
Previously, SWAN chairman Rabiu Dabbakal and vice chairman Theophilus Darofai congratulated James on his appointment and appealed for inclusion in future sporting activities within and outside the state.
