The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the Kaura-Namoda South Constituency by-election in Zamfara State.
Announcing the final outcome on Friday, Returning Officer Professor Lawal Sa’adu of the Federal University, Gusau, confirmed that the APC secured a total of 8,182 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party, which garnered 5,543 votes.
The by-election had initially been declared inconclusive following the cancellation of results in five polling units due to reported irregularities.
The margin between the APC’s lead and the number of Permanent Voter Cards collected in the affected units was insufficient to declare a winner, prompting INEC to schedule a supplementary poll.
The supplementary election was conducted on Thursday, August 21, and the final results were announced after the conclusion of vote collation.
