The First Lady of Oyo State, Tamunominini Makinde, has called on Nigerians to show love to the needy in this festive period.

Speaking during a Christmas party she organised for children’s across the state, Governor Seyi Makinde’s wife stressed the importance of giving gifts to the needy around them.

Mrs. Tamunomini was quoted by The PUNCH as saying that N1,000 will put a smile on people’s faces, adding that it doesn’t have to be an expensive gift.

She said many people needed just to receive a word of encouragement and little gifts to restore hope to them.

Speaking further, the First Lady added that the little show of kindness, including words of encouragement, can go a long way to reduce the stress of many who have been hit by the economic situation in the country.

She said, “This is Christmas and the lesson we can all learn from this season is love. God demonstrated his love towards mankind by giving us his only son, Jesus.

“We all need to show love to our neighbours. Some people will be okay if you give them just a meal. It does not have to be big gifts, you can give at your level. Just N1,000.00 will bring a smile to the face of some.

“We all have to think of those who do not have and do something for them no matter how small. Just make sure you give to people to make their faces bright.”

Mrs. Tamunominini advised parents to closely monitor their children to prevent them from criminals.
