The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has reassured Nigerians of sufficient petroleum supply during the festive season and advised against panic buying.

The NMDPRA Coordinator in Delta State, Mr. Victor Ohwodiasa, made this announcement during a media chat in Warri on Friday. He emphasized that petroleum depots are fully stocked with various products, including Premium Motor Spirit, Automotive Gasoline Oil, and Dual Purpose Kerosene.

“There is no cause for panic buying,” Ohwodiasa said. “The Federal Government is doing everything practically possible to sustain the availability of petroleum products, especially during this yuletide season.”

The NMDPRA also issued safety warnings to ensure public safety during the festive period. Ohwodiasa advised motorists not to store fuel in their vehicle boots, as it could lead to fire hazards.

“Storing petroleum products at home is dangerous. They are highly inflammable and could endanger lives and properties,” he warned.

He urged people to only buy the quantity of fuel they need and to patronize licensed retail outlets. “Licensed outlets are the ones we can regulate. If there are issues, we can address them,” he said.

Ohwodiasa further called on Nigerians to report illegal operators or anyone selling petroleum products without a license. “If you notice anyone selling PMS at home or operating illegally, reach out to us. We will take immediate action and give feedback,” he assured.

The coordinator extended festive greetings to Nigerians, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties. “The NMDPRA is particularly concerned about the safety of Delta residents and all Nigerians during this festive period,” he said.
