Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has made a passionate appeal to Igbos living abroad, particularly in Ghana, urging them to return home and invest in the Southeast region of Nigeria.
His call comes in the wake of rising tensions in Ghana, where recent protests have included calls from some citizens for the deportation of Nigerians over alleged criminal activities.
Reacting to the situation, Edochie took to his Facebook page to share an emotional message, encouraging Igbos not to respond with hostility but to see the moment as a spiritual prompt to reconnect with their ancestral land.
“Ndi Igbo, come back home and invest in Igbo land. If you’re facing rejection on foreign soil, it’s not a sign to fight. It’s a sign to return home,” he wrote.
He interpreted the backlash as a symbolic message from Igbo ancestors, urging a collective effort to rebuild and develop the Southeast.
According to him, the current climate presents an opportunity for unity and a new beginning for the region.
Edochie concluded his message with an Igbo proverb that reinforces his point: “Ana amalu mma si na uno wee puo ilo,” which means “beauty begins at home before it shines outside.”
