Some angry youths on Wednesday set a suspected robber ablaze at Issele-Azagba in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The three man gang was said to have robbed occupants of Professor Nduka’s compound at the community but ran out of luck when one of the robbers was said to have caught by youths following the tenants alarm that attracted the neighbourhoods.
The community source said that the hoodlums attacked the compound around 4am on Wednesday when the angry youth caught one of them and set him ablaze.
“The armed men were three number when they enter Prof. house and unfortunate, one of them was caught and set him ablaze this morning while two escaped.
“Three of them carried gun but when the tangents raise alarm, people started coming out from their houses, that was when the robbers to took to their heel, luckily for us, one was caught, so immediately the youth set him ablaze before the arrival of the policemen.
“If they leave him for police to arrest, before you know it, the man will be released. The youth are angry because Issele-Azagba has been suffering from attack on daily basis, so they don’t want to spare anybody they caught” the source narrated.
Confirming the killing of the suspect, Delta State Command spokesperson, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya said that the suspect was set ablaze by angry youths.
“The Robbers went to rob at the compound and unfortunately one of them was mob to death, by the time police came and took him to hospital, they couldn’t resuscitated him and he died” PPRO said
