Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly called out Grammy-winning star Burna Boy, labelling him “stingy” despite receiving a N20 million gift from him.
Over the weekend, Portable revealed that Burna Boy gifted him the generous sum following his win in a celebrity boxing match against fellow artist Speed Darlington.
However, in a video shared on Instagram, Portable claimed that beyond the money, Burna Boy has ignored all his attempts to connect on a personal and professional level.
“Shout out to Burna Boy. Some people want to wash my brain with advice. This man gingered my brain with the N20 million,” he said.
He continued, “However, the person who gave me N20 million has never replied to me on Instagram; I don’t have his number, and he doesn’t pick up my calls.”
Expressing his frustration, the singer continued, “I chatted him up but he didn’t reply. Burna Boy, you gave me N20 million, but you didn’t reply to me. Give me a feature. Why are you stingy about replying to messages?”
Portable, known for his unfiltered style, argued that a collaboration with Burna Boy would have a more lasting impact on his career than a one-time financial gift.
“He isn’t following me on Instagram but he gave me money. He is my helper but he should feature me instead because the N20 million can finish in a day,” he added. “If I collaborate with the person who gave me N20 million, I will go viral.”
The outspoken singer’s comments have sparked mixed reactions online, as he continues to demand recognition and opportunities from top players in the music industry.
