Popular skit maker and content creator, Mr Macaroni, has fired back at fellow comedian Seyi Law over claims that the latter played a pivotal role in launching his career, calling the accusation “mischievous” and politically motivated.
The ongoing spat began when Seyi Law released a video on his X page on Friday, accusing Mr Macaroni of being ungrateful.
“You can lie to everybody, but you can’t lie to yourself. The truth will find itself true at the right time,” Seyi Law said, implying that Macaroni was not acknowledging his role in his rise to fame.
In a direct response posted on his own X handle, Mr Macaroni rejected the claim and accused Seyi Law of attempting to stir political tension by linking their fallout to differences in political affiliation.
“Booda Seyi, please stop this dance of shame! You putting up this video suggesting that I have issues with you because of your political affiliation is mischievous. I have nothing against you because you supported APC!” he wrote.
Macaroni clarified that his issue with Seyi Law had nothing to do with party loyalty, but rather with what he described as Seyi Law’s conduct during and after Nigeria’s general elections.
“I still maintain respectful relationships with several people who supported APC till now. Yours is an exception because of your uncivilized behavior during and after the elections. And this is an example,” he added.
Addressing repeated claims that he was ungrateful, Mr Macaroni said he had tried to maintain respect by not responding in the past.
“You have tried to paint me as an ingrate severally and I always looked away because I did not want to disrespect you. But when you start telling lies against me and try to label me the liar, that’s where I draw the line.”
He also refuted Seyi Law’s assertion that their first collaboration came through a cousin who acted as a go-between.
“I never in my life asked Tolu (Your Cousin) to beg you to collaborate with me. You reached out yourself, shared an idea and we executed it together,” he stated.
While acknowledging and appreciating their previous work together, Mr Macaroni criticized what he perceived as a deliberate attempt to stir controversy to boost Seyi Law’s own public image.
“I appreciated it then and I still appreciate it now. What I don’t appreciate is you creating a false agenda to either sell your show or invite your APC Trolls to attack me (Even tho I’m used to their attacks),” he said.
