A young Nigerian artist known simply as Destiny has reportedly died after being brutally beaten by fellow Nigerians in Ghana.
The tragic incident occurred on May 28 in the Volta Region, where the 19-year-old, originally from Edo State, had relocated in pursuit of education and a career in music.
Destiny, who was an aspiring Afrobeats singer, had moved to Ghana with support from a man he described as his “street brother,” who also helped secure his accommodation.
Unfortunately, his journey ended in tragedy following a dispute over alleged mismanagement of business funds introduced by the same individuals who had supported him.
According to sources quoted in PUNCH, Destiny was confronted in his apartment by the man and two accomplices. The confrontation quickly escalated into violence when he was unable to account for the funds.
“He went to Ghana to chase his dreams and was living in the apartment provided by them. When they accused him of diverting business funds, they came to his place and beat him until he couldn’t move. He died in that room,” a source revealed.
Shocking reports allege that the attackers left Destiny’s lifeless body in the apartment without notifying authorities. His remains were discovered several days later after concerned locals alerted the police. As of the time of filing this report, Ghanaian authorities have not made any arrests, though investigations into the incident are ongoing.
A heartbreaking video of the deceased, shared online, showed Destiny speaking about his ambitions: “I am Destiny, and I am a streamer from Nigeria. I want to apply to Streamers University… I am also an artist and a gamer. I do all sorts of things.”
The incident has sparked outrage and sorrow across social media, with many calling for justice and expressing grief over the tragic end of a young man who had hoped to build a better life through talent and determination.
