Nigerian singer and songwriter Wande Coal has issued a thought-provoking question to aspiring musicians, urging them to seriously evaluate their decision to pursue a career in the music industry.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Wande Coal wrote: “Are you sure you really want to do this music business? You must be very sure oooo,” highlighting the demanding nature of the industry.
Echoing a similar sentiment, rapper Odumodublvck offered a more detailed piece of advice to emerging artists.
He cautioned against accepting financial advances from record labels before their music reaches a professional standard, warning that doing so could result in crippling debt.
“Dear upcoming artist, if you know your music is not ripe, stay away from an advance. You do not want to be owing an organisation so much money. You will die a debtor, please heed to my advice. Be patience and work hard till you are ready, please,” he wrote on X.
Both artists stressed the importance of readiness, patience, and hard work, urging newcomers to focus on refining their sound before entering formal industry agreements.
