A 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband during a fight over food in Garin Abba village, Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to the police, Hadiza hit her husband with a piece of wood during an argument, and the blow led to his death.
The Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
“Investigation is underway, and the suspect will be arraigned in court subsequently,” Abdulkarim said.
He added that the victim was a polygamous man who had two wives and five children, including those with Hadiza. He said the family is now left grieving the sudden loss.
The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, called on religious and community leaders to speak more about the dangers of domestic violence.
