Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for civil servants in the state to begin in December 2024.

This decision follows recommendations from a committee on the minimum wage, set up by the state government. The committee also proposed reconciling local government finances to ensure a smooth transition to the new wage structure for council workers.

The governor’s spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed, confirmed this in a statement, saying, “The reconciliation process is almost complete and will soon be finalized to allow local government employees to benefit from the new salary structure.”

Governor Buni urged civil servants to show appreciation by working harder and delivering efficient services to the people.

“The government expects civil servants in the state to reciprocate the gesture by putting in their best to ensure effective and efficient service delivery,” the statement added.
