The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Yunusa Isa, in connection with the brutal killing of his business partner and lender, Lawan Adamu, in Damaturu.

According to the PUNCH, the case, now before the Yobe State Magistrateโ€™s Court in Damaturu, is awaiting judgment as it had earlier been transferred to the Ministry of Justice for the trial.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Yobe State Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, explained via a statement, โ€œThe case has been transferred to the Ministry of Justice and is awaiting a hearing notice while the suspect who has been remanded at the correctional service center on court orders is expecting trial and sentencing.

โ€œInitially, Isa, a resident of Shago-Tara in the Nayi Nawa Ward of Damaturu, denied any involvement in the crime despite substantial circumstantial evidence against him which pointed at his dastardly act.

โ€œHowever, after intense interrogation by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, he confessed to the murder.

โ€œInvestigations revealed that Adamu was both an employer and a business partner to Isa in the engine oil business.

โ€œLast year, Isa borrowed N500,000 from Adamu under a profit-sharing agreement.

โ€œWhen Isa failed to meet the terms of the agreement, Adamu demanded repayment of the loan,โ€ the statement added.

According to the police statement, โ€œIsa allegedly murdered Adamu to avoid repaying the debt, killing him in cold blood.โ€

The police stressed that the swift resolution of the case underscores their commitment to justice and public safety.
