The Yobe State Government has dismissed claims that Governor Mai Mala Buni is planning to dump the All Progressives Congress for the African Democratic Congress.
The governor’s spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, made this clear in an exclusive interview with the PUNCH on Wednesday in Damaturu.
Mohammed described the defection story as false and baseless. He said it had been denied before and should not be taken seriously.
“It’s a wild dream of the author. Someone had earlier speculated this and it was debunked. It’s an empty speculation,” Mohammed said.
He added that Buni has been a loyal member of the APC for two terms and remains committed to the party.
“The governor is one of the most loyal and committed APC members. He would be the last person to leave the ruling party,” he added.
Mohammed also warned those spreading such stories to be careful about peddling fake reports, especially about serious politicians.
