Yobe correctional service gets new controller

The Nigerian Correctional Service’s Yobe State Command announces the appointment of Bala Dan’azumi Kitsam as the new Controller of Corrections. 

In an official statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Haruna Isa, it was revealed that Kitsam is the 4th Controller of Corrections in the state since the enactment of the law renaming the Nigeria Prisons Service to the Nigerian Correctional Service in 2019.

Taking over from the former Controller of Corrections, Yusufu Sambo, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Corrections  and deployed to the national headquarters in Abuja, Kitsam assumed leadership responsibilities. 

Hailing from Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, Kitsam holds a B.Tech in Agric Technology from the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, Adamawa state.

The statement highlights Kitsam’s diverse experience, serving in various capacities and strategic offices across commands and formations. 

“The new Controller of Corrections has served in different capacities, and various strategic offices across commands and formations.

“Until his posting as the new Controller of Corrections, Yobe State command, he was the officer-in-charge of the Non-Custodial Service, Bauchi state command,” the statement added.

The Yobe State Command encourages the residents to strengthen their collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service, particularly in reforming, rehabilitating, and reintegrating offenders.
