Tinubu names Yakubu Jang senior presidential aide

President Bola Tinubu has approved the Yakubu Jang appointment as a Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President.

According to PUNCH, Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the appointment on Saturday while delivering Tinubu’s goodwill message in Jos, Plateau State.

The announcement came during the 80th birthday celebration and book launch of former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, Yakubu’s father.

“On behalf of Mr President, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Yakubu Jang as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President,” Shettima said.

The Presidency did not immediately disclose the specific portfolio attached to the appointment.

Shettima said the decision reflected Tinubu’s recognition of capacity and loyalty. He added that the administration remained committed to accommodating diverse voices in governance.

Political leaders and associates of the Jang family welcomed the announcement with applause.

The ceremony at the Tamarald Event Centre attracted former President Goodluck Jonathan, governors, government officials, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.

The gathering also celebrated Jonah Jang’s years of public service in the Nigerian Air Force and politics. He previously served as a military administrator, Plateau State governor and senator.

The former governor also unveiled his autobiography, Airman to Politics: My Life, during the event.
