Yahaya Bello ruled like an emperor, he deserves to be punished, Okutepa slams El-Rufai for begging Kogi people
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Jibrin Samuel Okutepa, has described as laughable the plea of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the people of Kogi State.
El-Rufai while speaking at the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kogi governorship campaign rally in Lokoja on Thursday had knelt to beg the people and asked them to forgive the state governor Yahaya Bello who is seeking a second term in office under the platform of the APC.
El-Rufai, the Chairman, Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council of the APC, said Bello was young when he became governor and was bound to make many mistakes.
Bello had been adjudged to be a failure at governance in his first term especially with the payment of salary. Civil servants in the state claim they are being owned salary running into over 12 months.
Okutepa, the Managing partner at J.S Okutepa SAN and Co., and an indigene of Kogi State took a swipe at El-Rufai in a thread of tweets via his Twitter handle @OkutepaJ.
He said Bello must first confess his sins and explain how he spent the state’s resources in over three years.
Okutepa also said Bello disregarded law and order and deserves to be punished by the electorates for him to “know the power of the people.”

He tweeted:
“When I watched Nasir El-Rufai kneeling down begging Kogi people to forgive Yahaya Bello for failure of governance, I came to the conclusion that Nigerian politicians can take us for granted. Bello is young and he is bound to make mistakes he said. Mistakes I laughed. Mistakes?
“Let Yahaya Bello first confess his sins. What happened to our bailout funds. Why were workers not paid? Let him tell us why in more than three years there is no visible evidence of good governance. He must be published for his audacity of arrogance. He acted like emperor.
“Yahaya Bello must explain to us in Kogi why he so desecrated the constitution and the institutions of government. He disregarded law and order and had no respect for judicial pronouncements including orders of supreme court. Bello must be punished to know the power of the people.”
