The Nigerian born World Wrestling Entertainment superstar, Oba Femi, is scheduled to face Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at WWE SummerSlam 2026, a matchup that diverges from what many fans had expected following Femi’s King of the Ring victory.
With Femi emerging as the winner of the King of the Ring tournament, expectations were high that he would secure a WWE World Title opportunity at the two-night event.
However, the decision to pair him with Lesnar instead has surprised a section of the audience anticipating a championship storyline.
Speaking on the “Two Count Tuesday” podcast, Jonathan Coachman criticized the creative direction, arguing that the attempt to remain unpredictable has instead complicated the storyline. He said,
“You know what they did? They really made everything more confusing for themselves because they want so vehemently to go against what the internet thinks and knows. We know everything before it happens.
“And Triple H is trying so hard to sway us away in a different direction. Now he’s f******* himself over and now he’s made everything more confusing because he wants to keep it unpredictable.”
Coachman further suggested that despite Femi’s tournament win, WWE could still opt to move him away from a title match scenario, framing it as an unconventional but intentional creative “win” for the company. He added,
“Boy, you know, they’re sitting on that jet just laughing. ‘Oh, we got them. We got them. We got them. Oh, wait… we’ve got to figure out why he doesn’t go after Roman Reigns.’”
Femi and Lesnar are no strangers in the ring, having met twice previously on premium live events. Femi secured a victory at WrestleMania 42, while Lesnar evened the score with a win at WWE Clash in Italy.
