World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Bray Wyatt died unexpectedly at 36. WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H tweeted that he received word from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda, Wyatt’s father, that his son had passed away. The cause was reportedly a heart attack.

Our thoughts are with his family, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time,” Triple H said.

Wyatt, whose real name was Windham Rotunda, was a popular 3-time WWE World Champion known for his mysterious and macabre persona in the ring.

He had not competed since January after taking time off due to undisclosed health issues. Reports indicated Wyatt was cleared to return to wrestling last month after recovering.

WWE was allegedly mapping out creative plans and targeting September for the 36-year-old Florida native’s comeback. However, Wyatt tragically passed away before he could return, reportedly from a heart attack stemming from COVID-19.

Fans and wrestling professionals took to social media to mourn the sudden loss of the beloved WWE superstar. Wyatt wrestled for WWE from 2009 up until his death.

Our hearts are broken over this tragic loss,” WWE said in a statement.
