Friday, August 10, 2018, is basically all about lions and specifically dedicated to celebrating the magnificent species better known to be the “King of Beasts, King of the jungle or King of Animals.”
Lion Day was founded by Big Cat Rescue, the world’s largest accredited sanctuary dedicated to big cats.
Its foundation was based on the fact that the numbers of lions have dramatically declined to the point where the species were placed on the endangered list, just like its larger cousin the tiger.

In the spirit of celebration, some London Zoo’s lions are celebrating World Lion Day in style, boxing and biting colourful balls stuffed with the big-cat equivalent of catnip the Yahoo News reports.
If you’re wondering how the “King of Animals” should be celebrated, you could use them as wallpapers, screensavers, on your phone or dress up in Lion prints.
