A 28-year-old woman, Victoria Joseph, who masterminded the kidnap of her two-year-old nephew has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command.

WuzupNigeria reports that Joseph and her accomplice, one 33-year-old Joy Ugorji, stole the boy from his home in Kakuano Local Government Area of Rivers State and came to Imo to sell him.

The state Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, who paraded the suspects on Tuesday, said that the operatives of the Anti- Vice Unit of the command intercepted the suspects and recovered the baby while on a stop-and-search duty.

He said,

“On May 30, 2020, operatives of the Anti- Vice unit of the command while on stop and search duty, intercepted the suspects with a boy of about two years.

“On interrogation, they confessed that they stole the child at Kakuano LGA of Rivers state and brought him for sale.

“The boy has been safely kept at the motherless babes home while efforts is being made to locate the parents while investigation is ongoing.

“The command, therefore, enjoins members of the public whose child was stolen or who knows anyone that has lost his child recently to contact the state police control room number or the Police Public Relations Officer.”

One of the suspects, Joseph, told journalists that she stole the boy from his grandmother.

Joseph who told journalists that the boy’s mother was her cousin, said that she took advantage of her familiarity with the family to steal the boy.

The 28-year-old said that they were in Imo state to look for somebody who would buy the boy.

She confessed that she had sold others she stole in the past.
