A 32-year-old woman, Murjah Bello, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly hitting her neighbour with a tree trunk.
The police charged Bello, who resides in Kaduna, with assault.The prosecution counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 5th at 2p.m.
Leo said the defendant hit her neighbour, Hajiya Zainab Mohammed, with a tree trunk on her head and back during an altercation.
He said the action of the defendant caused bodily harm to the complainant.
The prosecutor noted that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 347 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.
Emmanuel adjourned the case until February 3rd for hearing.
