Nigerian comedian and actor, Woli Arole, has caused a stir online after speaking against women who choose surrogacy even though they are physically able to carry a child.

In a post shared on his Instagram page on Monday, June 16, Arole said he believes such decisions are influenced by modern ideas that go against God’s plan. He said women are blessed with the ability to carry children and should not avoid it unless for serious health reasons.

“Listen carefully. It is a blessing for a woman to carry her baby in her womb. That’s how God wants it. Don’t let wokeness derail you,” he wrote.

Arole admitted that surrogacy and other assisted reproductive methods like IVF are important for women who have medical problems or cannot conceive naturally. However, he strongly rejected the idea of choosing surrogacy just for comfort or personal preference.

“You can’t say, ‘my body, my decision. I don’t feel like carrying a child. I want surrogacy.’ No!! Your body is God’s temple!!” he said.

He added that the womb is a special gift from God and should not be ignored for lifestyle choices.

“Surrogacy is not something you just choose!! There’s a reason God gave you a womb,” Arole added.

His comments have attracted mixed reactions online. While some supported his views and praised him for defending traditional values, others criticised him for trying to dictate what women should do with their bodies.
