Nigerian singer and producer, Tekno, has revealed that Wizkid’s acclaimed song “Ojuelegba” played a major role in the creation of his own hit track “Rara,” confirming what some fans have long speculated about the connection between both records.
The “Pana” crooner made the revelation during a recent appearance on a Cool FM podcast, where he openly discussed the influence Wizkid’s classic song had on his creative process.
Tekno Miles explained that “Rara” and “Ojuelegba” share similar musical elements, noting that both songs have the same foundation and progression.
“Rara is ‘Ojuelegba’. It’s the same thing. Same progression, same everything. A good chef is always a good chef,” he said.
The music star further explained that he spent a significant amount of time listening to “Ojuelegba” before creating “Rara,” describing the Wizkid track as one of his favourite songs of all time.
“I listened to ‘Ojuelegba’ so much that it gave me a hit song. That’s one of my all time favorite songs. Not just Afrobeats, all time,” he said.
Tekno also shared his surprise after discovering that Wizkid once considered not releasing “Ojuelegba,” despite the song later becoming one of the defining records in Afrobeats history.
“I was shocked when Wizkid said he almost didn’t release ‘Ojuelegba,'” Tekno added, describing the song as “just a good shuffle.”
