Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Bode George, has declared that the party will take firm action against members working against its interest, as the National Executive Council prepares to meet on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, George pointed fingers at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, suggesting he is among those undermining the party. George insisted that the PDP would no longer tolerate internal sabotage.
“Nyesom Wike does not own the PDP; he joined the party just like everybody else did. If you think it’s only because of his money that he remains a member of the party, wait until the NEC meeting where decisive actions will be taken on all those who have committed a ‘hara-kiri,’” he said.
His statement comes amid growing confusion in the PDP regarding the 100th NEC meeting. While speculation swirled about a possible postponement, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) dismissed the claims and reaffirmed that the meeting would go ahead as planned. The NWC also denied reports that Senator Samuel Anyanwu had been reinstated as the party’s National Secretary following comments made during a press briefing by Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum.
George dismissed suggestions that Wike wields overwhelming influence in the ongoing crisis within the party, asserting that the PDP, unlike the All Progressives Congress (APC), is not owned or controlled by a single individual. He emphasized that disciplinary action is imminent for those who have acted in defiance of the party’s unity and direction.
