Wike not relevant without FCT minister position – Adamu Garba

Published

Adamu Garba, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress, has asserted that Nyesom Wike’s political influence relies heavily on his current role as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Garba suggests that Wike’s standing within his political circle is intricately tied to this specific position.

In a recent post on his social media handle, Garba expressed his perspective, stating, “If Wike ceases to be FCT minister, the loyalty from his current team cannot be guaranteed.” He cautioned the APC to tread carefully to avoid inheriting unnecessary hostilities from the populace.

This statement comes against the backdrop of political turmoil in Rivers State, culminating in the defection of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Garba emphasized, “As it stands now, the only thing holding Wike’s political capital is the seat as the FCT Minister. If he ceases to be FCT minister, the loyalty from his current team cannot be guaranteed.”

He noted the significance of Rivers State as a traditional PDP stronghold, with many key establishments, traditional rulers, and grassroots support historically aligned with the PDP.

In conclusion, Garba urged caution, highlighting the potential repercussions of inheriting animosity, especially from those crucial for future electoral victories: “We must be careful not to inherit some unnecessary enmity from the people we truly need for the sake of our future election victories.”
