Minister of the Federal Capital Territory , Nyesom Wike, has stated that he holds no grudge against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, following the end of the political standoff in the state.

Amid a celebratory atmosphere in Rivers, a crowd of residents gathered on Thursday in anticipation of Fubara’s public appearance after a six-month absence.

However, the governor did not show up as expected.

Speaking on the situation during an interview with Channels Television, Wike clarified that communication between him and Fubara had resumed, signifying a resolution to their past differences.

“I have already said that we’ve been speaking. I will not engage with a man I have not forgiven. Everything is over. I am not a politician who says one thing today and another tomorrow. We must move forward,” Wike said.

The minister also criticized certain individuals for allegedly attempting to stir unrest through misinformation and legal misinterpretations, particularly concerning the conduct of local government elections.

“Unfortunately, there are people who do not want peace. Today, I watched individuals twisting the law, claiming illegality in the conduct of local government elections.

“But ask them: what did they do to prevent such illegality in the first place? When you hear them pontificating and shouting, you would think they have solutions—yet they do nothing except attempt to create crisis,” he added.

Wike also expressed appreciation for the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in stabilizing the political climate in Rivers State.

“The president has done a great deal for us, and peace has been restored,” he said.
