A widow identified as Mrs Opeyemi Omoyemi has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison after she brutalised her 12-year-old househelp for allegedly stealing pieces of meat from her pot of soup.
The defendant was alleged to have used a stick and razor blade to inflict multiple injuries on the body of the victim.
WuzupNigeria had on February 7th reported that Omoyemi was arraigned before a magistrate court sitting in Akure by men of the Ondo State Police Command for inflicting several injuries on Joel Sunday.
As seen in a viral video on February 6, Sunday was left with deep wounds, indicative of laceration with blades, on his blood-stained shoulder, stomach and leg and could barely walk as concerned neighbours intervened and took him to a nearby hospital.
However, during her trial on Monday, the 36-year-old widow was sentenced to 42 months in jail, according to The PUNCH.
She was arraigned before the court on a five-count bothering on attempted murder, child abuse, violence against person prohibition among others.
The Magistrate, Mrs. O.A Edwin said the defendant was guilty of counts one, four and five. She, however, struck out count four.
