Comedian, Mr. Macaroni, whose real name is Adebowale Adedayo has clarified why he joined the influx of celebrities condemning comments made by afrobeats star Wizkid referring to renowned music producer and label owner Don Jazzy as “just an influencer.”
“The context of what Wizkid said regarding Don Jazzy as an influencer was disrespectful,” Mr Macaroni, whose real name is Adebowale Adedayo, stated in an interview with Wazobia FM.
“Don is perhaps the biggest entertainment influencer we have in Africa…You cannot talk about shaping the music industry without mentioning him.”
Mr Macaroni highlighted Don Jazzy’s influential role in launching the careers of major Nigerian artists across generations, from early acts like D’Banj and Dr Sid to contemporary stars like Rema and Ayra Starr.
He argued Don Jazzy’s influence extends beyond just music to film, content creation and more.

The backlash over Wizkid’s comments comes amid an increasingly heated social media feud between the “Essence” hitmaker and rival Afrobeats star Davido. The two have traded insults and mocked each other in recent months, with Wizkid calling Davido “delusional” and Davido claiming “the streets have gotten Wizkid’s music.”
While celebrity feuds are nothing new in the entertainment landscape, the Wizkid-Davido rivalry has been characterized as their “dirtiest and lowest” yet by industry insiders. Wizkid’s remarks about Don Jazzy have only further stoked the flames.
