Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has expressed confidence in securing a second term in office as he faces a stiff challenge from opposition candidates in the upcoming Saturday polls.

In an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, Governor Uzodinma attributed his confidence to the achievements he has accomplished during his tenure.

Governor Uzodinma, who is the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, highlighted various accomplishments that he believes will resonate with voters in Imo State.

He emphasized the improvement in salary payments, addressing backlogs of unpaid salaries, and the transformation of road infrastructure.

“On Saturday, anyone in Imo State that is going to vote will at least remember they have just received their salary. Before I came, there were backlogs of unpaid salaries,” stated Uzodinma.

He further emphasized the positive changes in road infrastructure, healthcare, and education sectors, asserting that voters would recognize these improvements when casting their votes.

“Then getting to the voting centres, the environment, the decency, the psychology of people, the dividends of democracy that I brought as a governor, the intangibles and the tangibles will make them vote for me. I have not only recovered the broken-down infrastructure,” he added.

Uzodinma addressed the issue of insecurity, linking it to unemployment and idleness among the youth.

He highlighted his efforts in job creation and youth empowerment, both in analogue and digital sectors, to address the root causes of insecurity.

While addressing security challenges in Imo State, Governor Uzodinma raised concerns about false narratives spread by the political class in the opposition. He questioned the motives behind causing trouble in the state ahead of the elections.

“The question I ask is those who think Imo state will not vote for me, why are they causing trouble, why can’t they wait and go to the poll so that the people will vote Hope Uzondinma out if he has not been doing well,” remarked Uzodinma.
