Veteran Yoruba actor Dele Odule has revealed the painful circumstances that once drove him to consider his own burial arrangements, describing it as one of the lowest points of his life.

Speaking in an interview shared online, the respected filmmaker explained that the decision came during a period when he felt completely overwhelmed and uncertain about his future.

Known for his role in Ti Oluwa Ni Ile, Odule said the experience unfolded while he was living in Abeokuta, where personal struggles left him feeling defeated.

“I had priced my own casket before when everything and my life were in shambles in Abeokuta,” Odule said. “I didn’t get myself anymore; I didn’t believe I could break through.”

The actor further disclosed that his colleague, Olaiya Igwe, witnessed the emotional moment. According to him, the situation had a profound impact on his friend. “Olaiya Igwe knows about it; I went there with him, and he started crying like a baby,” he said.

Born in Ile-Ife in 1959 and hailing from Oru Ijebu in Ogun State, Odule has maintained a strong presence in the Nigerian film industry since the late 1980s. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a seasoned performer and also served as President of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
