Veteran Nigerian actor and filmmaker, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, has shared the reasons behind his limited presence in online discussions, revealing that he prefers observing events quietly instead of participating in what he described as unnecessary social media noise.

In an Instagram post, the Nollywood star stated that conversations across Nigerian social media platforms have become draining, with many debates centred on issues he believes contribute little to the everyday realities Nigerians face.

Udokwu noted that several topics trending online often fail to address the real struggles confronting citizens, yet they continue to dominate digital spaces while consuming people’s attention, time, and internet data.

The actor further explained that the increasing culture of trolling, insults, and online attacks influenced his decision to remain silent on social media, adding that constructive conversations have become difficult to maintain.

According to him, he chose to stay away from public debates and instead observe discussions from the background by reading comments rather than actively engaging.

Despite his reservations, Udokwu disclosed that he plans to become more active online following repeated appeals from fans requesting greater interaction and regular updates from him.

He wrote:

“Social media has become something else in Nigeria. Most times, things that have little or no relevance to the day-to-day struggles of the people go viral and consume valuable time and data from the same traumatised people!

“It baffles me! Too much dragging and trolling everywhere! I really don’t regret my choice to stay quiet and read from the sidelines while the job is done…… I am sure you would agree with me on this, aren’t you? However, due to popular demand, I will be more active in posting and engaging my fans from now on….. How una see am?”.
