The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last election, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over President Bola Tinubu’s continued absence from Nigeria.
This comes after Tinubu embarked on a two-week working vacation in the United Kingdom on October 2, 2024.
Reports also indicated that after spending over a week in the UK, President Tinubu traveled to Paris, France, for an important engagement.
However, two weeks later, Obi questioned why the president has not returned to the country, given the pressing challenges Nigeria faces.
In a statement on Friday, Obi said, “The President had told us he would only be gone for 14 days. The 14 days have passed now, and we are waiting to see him in the country. One would have expected him to return earlier than expected, considering the volume of work that needs to be done in a troubled nation like ours.”
Obi further expressed concern about the difficulties Nigerians are experiencing, stating, “The untold hardship that has been unleashed on our people as a result of some of his administration’s policies is unimaginable, and we need his urgent attention to pilot the nation out of this present situation.”
