The Lagos State Government has announced the arrest of 300 miscreants, popularly known as ‘Omotaku’, who specialise in disturbing and harassing motorists across the state over the past few months .
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in an X post on Thursday while reacting to a motorist who reported sleeping overnight in his faulty car along the Oshodi/Apapa Expressway without being disturbed .
Wahab attributed the motorist’s positive experience to the state government’s intensified efforts to rid Lagos of ‘Omotaku’ miscreants .
“What have we done differently? In the last few months, we have initiated a statewide security surveillance, clamping down on miscreants disturbing motorists. Through the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce, we have arrested over 300 ‘Omotaku’ across the state,” Wahab stated .
He added that the government has also initiated monitoring teams that patrol roads, especially at night, to ensure the safety of all road users .

Wahab further disclosed that the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps also monitors pedestrian bridges and areas under bridges across the state to displace and apprehend unauthorised users who hide in those locations to unleash mayhem on innocent Lagosians .
While acknowledging that more work remains to be done, Wahab assured residents of the government’s commitment to restoring sanity across the state.
“It is not yet El Dorado but we are not resting on our oars until sanity is restored to the state,” he concluded .
