Brown Joel, one of the voices behind the viral hit Ogechi, has spoken out to dispel rumors that he and his collaborators form a music group. Despite the track’s massive success, he emphasized that the artists involved—himself, BoyPee, and Hyce—are not bound by any formal arrangement.
“We’re not a group. We’re friends and individual artists. There’s no contract binding us as a crew,” Brown Joel said in a recent video.
The song, which exploded on TikTok and later featured Afrobeats star Davido on a remix, has led some fans to assume the trio are a collective. But Joel was quick to set the record straight.
He also appeared to take aim at the focus on streaming metrics over real fan engagement:
“When you get to a concert, real humans will sing for you. Not digital numbers.”
Brown Joel made it clear that while the *Ogechi* collaboration brought them together creatively, each artist continues to operate independently.
