We should be calling for reforms, not EndSARS – Sylvia Oluchy
Actress Sylvia Oluchy has said that EndSARS isn’t the appropriate name for the protest against the menace of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
SARS is a unit in the Nigerian Police Force created to fight against violent crimes in the country.
However, some of its operatives have been accused of brutalizing innocent citizens thereby resulting in the call for the police unit to be scrapped.
Sylvia Oluchy who reacted to the series of EndSARS protests stated that what should be demanded is a reform not the abolishment of the police unit.
She said:
“In the discuss surrounding SARS brutality, we may need to remember that SARS was created for a reason. I’m not sure #endsars is the right name for this protest. We should be calling for reform, internal inquiry and punishment of those abusing the power as opposed to abolition.”
