WE REMEMBER NIS JOB SCAM! Nigerians lambaste Abba Moro over news report, say he’s part of the problem

Published

Remember Abba Moro, the man who allegedly perpetrated the 2013 Nigerian Immigration job scam in which no fewer than 15 applicants died; well he is in the news again and angry Nigerians have taken to social media to lambaste him.

WuzupNaija recalls that Abba Moro, a foreign Minister of Interior under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, and four others allegedly defrauded 676, 675 applicants of N676. 7 million being the aggregate of N1000 paid by each applicant to the recruiting agent, Drexel Nigeria Limited, a company Mr. Moro had ties with.

Despite the huge amount realized from applicants, the recruitment was poorly organised, resulting in deadly stampedes across the country.

But in a 16th January 2019 report by Punch Newspapers titled: ‘Abba Moro says APC promised change but brought pains’, the ex-minister of Interior criticised the ruling party saying they brought hardship to Nigerians.

Moro, who is PDP Senatorial Candidate for Benue South, stated this during the inauguration of his ward-to-ward campaign in Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.

He said,

“I was doing well as lecturer before I ventured into politics, not because I was poor but because I needed to help my people back home.”

He added,

“Some of you can attest to the fact that I helped many of our sons and daughters, especially the youth while serving as a minister. If you go to Civil Defence, Fire Service, Immigration and Prisons, you will see our people there. I was able to fix them there as a minister.”

But Nigerians are having none of Mr. Moro’s rhetorics and have taken to social media to lambaste him, saying he failed at being an exemplary leader.

Many accused the APC of bringing governance so low that someone with Abba Moro’s history can still speak in Nigeria.

Also on the Punch Online Platform, commenters on the article took swipes at the minister, with one Bidemi Adelabu saying:

“Fellow Nigerians, which Moro is this pls? Hope it’s not that same bastard who extorted billions of naira from innocent graduates, gathered them in a place in Abuja, unleashed brutal death on them and refused to refund their money to their families? May God punish you….”

Another who simply identified himself as Ty wrote:

Abba, stop doing drugs! No hidden place for a rotten fish! NASS is for sane and serious-minded people. Please don’t disgrace your people. So immigration service , fire service and prison service are your private business that you employed and would still employ only Southern Benue sons and daughters? No wonder you moderated the killing of youths from other parts of the country during your ill-fated recruitment exercise. You need to be cast into hell fire.

On his part, Kayode O wondered if Nigerian politicians fear God.

Nigerian politicians have no shame and not a single fear of God. sometimes l wonder how these people get to power, is it how good they are by lying all over the place, spreading fake news, a connection or sweet mouth. This guy murdered so many youths by setting a 419 way of collecting billions of Naira from a youth who are job seeker and you refused to refund the money back after the incident happened. Also not showing remorse by stepping down from your position & the Donadaft not seen it as necessary to do the right things, and all the nation quiets about it, the incident just went sudden death like that. There are not simple truth in this nation whatsoever.
