We only post things we want people to see — Actress Shalewa Ashafa
Nollywood actress, Shalewa Ashafa has said that what people post on social media are only what they want others to see.
She stated that the pictures on social media shouldn’t be seen as the definition of ones entire life because they are just a capture of a minute in someone’s life.
Shalewa Ashafa shared this in reaction to a compliment she got concerning what her Instagram page portrays.
She said, “Yesterday, I met someone who said my Instagram page looks “clean.” Been getting a lot of that since I actively started using this app. Took it as a compliment at first but also thought about how misleading it can be. On social media, our lives seem perfect and it looks like we have it easy.
“Truth is, we honestly only post the things we want people to see. A lot of people have it hard out here. Might not be financially but there are problems you’ll hear of and just thank God for the little you have.
“A picture is just a one minute capture of a person’s day. Even if you capture every minute of an entire day, you still can’t tell what happens in anyone’s life. Be thankful, be grateful and most importantly, be easy on yourself. Life isn’t as perfect as pictures make it seem and no one has it easy but we have to keep striving and remain hopeful. Hope this helps someone.”
