Case of alleged sexual harassment made against Professor Awonusi of the Department of English by Ms. Joy Nwanna.

The University of Lagos has asked the public to volunteer any useful information that could help investigate the viral story of a professor in the English department of the university, who constantly molests a female student for marks.

The management of the school was reacting to a viral story of a female student who said she is tired of being a pawn in the professor’s hands adding that she has completely given up on her academics.

In a lengthy post on LIB, the young girl whose name was withheld said that she feels so dirty for allowing an old man touch her intimately.

In a press release by the university, it restated its zero-tolerance stance for allegations pertaining to sexual impropriety, even as it has a well-established policy against such practices.

The University said that the management will not treat “this matter with levity” adding that the issue will be thoroughly investigated with transparency”.

The statement reads:

“The Management has a zero tolerance for allegations pertaining to sexual impropriety and has a well-established policy against such practices.

“We wish to reassure all our stakeholders, students, parents, members of staff and the general public that Management will not treat this matter with levity. Management will tackle the allegation with every sense of responsibility and seriousness that the matter deserves. The issue would be thoroughly investigated with transparency.

“Management respectfully solicits information from members of the University community and pledges confidentiality and protection.”
