A football match in the Swedish Allsvenskan was abandoned on Monday, August 16, after a fan ran onto the field and attacked Ostersunds goalkeeper Aly Keita.
According to BBC Sport, the game at the Stadsparksvallen, home of Jonkoping Sodra, was tied 1-1 before an intruder ran onto the field and grabbed the 29-year-old shot-stopper.
We learnt Keita fell to the ground before security officials and other players pulled the invader off him, who was then escorted away.
The match was abandoned after the match official Nicklas Bengtsson declared that Keita was “not fit” to finish the match.
Graham Potter, the Ostersunds manager and a former West Brom player, said: “Keita is shocked. He’s not doing so well.”
The goalkeeper later informed some newsmen that he had been struck on the head, and added: “I am shocked and angry. It is awful that something like this could happen.”
Police officials have confirmed that they arrested a 17-year-old male in the aftermath of the incident.
It is not the first time this year that a match in the Swedish top flight has had to be abandoned. In April a contest between Gothenburg and Malmo was stopped when a firework exploded next to a substitute.
