The interim manager of Wales, Robert Page, has defended his captain, Gareth Bale, for walking out of a live interview after being questioned about his future with the team.
Denmark dumped 10-man Wales out of the EURO 2020 tournament on Saturday evening with a 4-0 bashing in the first round of 16 matches held at the Amsterdam Arena.
The future of the Real Madrid forward, 31, has been speculated with reports suggesting he would retire from international football before the tournament, which was delayed by a year, BBC reports.
However, when asked whether the Denmark loss could be his last game for Wales, Bale who spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur immediately left the post-match interview in Holland following the defeat to Denmark.
Meanwhile, Page reacted to the walk-out by Bale, noting that “emotions are raw” in the aftermath of the loss.
“He is feeling like any other player in the changing room – disappointed.
“Why would he want to answer a question about his future? For me it’s an insensitive question. He’s just come off the pitch after a defeat. It’s about the group and how we bounce back from it.”
