The West African Examinations Council has announced the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations results.
This year, 1,814,344 candidates from 22,229 secondary schools across the country sat for the exam.
The examination body disclosed this in a Monday post on X.
The message read, “The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for school candidates, 2024 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 12, 2024.”
The Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, at WAEC’s headquarters in Yaba had earlier revealed this year that out of the 1.8 million candidates, 902,328 (49.73%) were male and 912,016 (50.27%) were female.
The candidates were tested in 76 subjects through 197 papers, with 30,000 secondary school teachers overseeing the examination.
“The results of candidates sitting the examination will be released 45 days after the last paper,” Dangut said. “Certificates will be printed and issued to schools in less than 90 days after the release of results.”
The release of the results is expected to assist candidates who applied for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education for the 2023/2024 academic session.
Some institutions, including private ones, have already started their admission processes and scheduled Post-UTME screenings.
In addition to the physical results, digital copies of the certificates will be available on the digital certificate platform.
