The Oluyole Security Surveillance Team successfully apprehended two individuals, Dahunsi Samson and Abiodun Isaac, who were employed by a road construction company in Oyo State.

The suspects were caught stealing iron rods intended for the construction project. The Oluyole Security Surveillance Team conducted the operation in Idi Ayunre, Ibadan.

Alongside the construction workers, the OSST also arrested Oluwatosin Vincent, a tricycle rider, and Akanbi Taiwo, who was involved in conveying the stolen iron rods to a buyer.

The Commandant of OSST, Olusegun Idowu, confirmed the arrests and highlighted the circumstances surrounding the apprehension. He mentioned that three suspects were caught in the early hours while transporting the stolen iron rods, and Isaac was later apprehended on the same day.

Isaac confessed, stating, “He was the one who told me that his wife was ill but he had no money to take care of her… He told me that we could take the iron rods without anyone knowing.” Samson, the second suspect, revealed that Isaac, also a checker, initiated the plan and convinced him to join in stealing the iron rods.

Samson explained, “Isaac, also a checker, was the one who called me and said that he wanted to carry some rods which are owned by the company. He had been removing them from the ones he was checking.”

The tricycle rider, Vincent, denied any involvement in the theft conspiracy, stating that he was flagged down along the road and asked to transport items without knowledge of their origin.

The suspects expressed regret for their actions, with Samson pleading for mercy, saying, “I plead with the government to have mercy on me. My wife just put to bed less than two months ago.”

The OSST Commandant, Idowu, announced that the suspects would be transferred to the Sanyo Division of the Oyo State Police Command for further investigation.
