President Muhammadu Buhari has explained the function of his wife, Aisha Buhari.
A comment by the president on Friday had generated a lot of reactions world wide. The President had said that he does not know which party his wife belongs to but all he knows is that his wife belongs to the kitchen, the living room and the other room. Buhari made the comment in response to an interview granted by his wife to BBC in which she said some people had hijacked power from her husband.
In another interview with Deutsche Welle (DW) – Germany’s public international broadcaster, Buhari insisted that his wife’s job is to look after him.
“I am sure you have a house,” he told the interviewer.
“You know where your kitchen is, you know where your living room is, and I believe your wife looks after all of that even if she is working.”
When asked again if that was his wife – Aisha’s function, Mr President replied in the affirmative, saying: “Yes. To look after me.”
