The Zone Two Command of the Nigeria Police Force has uncovered 763 bags of “Canadian Loud,” a strong strain of cannabis, during a raid on a warehouse in Lagos State.
According to The Guardian, the illicit drugs were discovered by operatives attached to the Zone Two Zonal Command during an operation targeted at drug trafficking activities in the state.
A video shared by the police showed senior officers displaying the recovered bags of the suspected cannabis during a press briefing.
Authorities described the seizure as one of the major breakthroughs in the ongoing crackdown on illegal drug distribution and organised criminal activities within Lagos and surrounding areas.
The police said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest those connected to the warehouse and the illegal consignment.
Further details regarding suspects arrested and the estimated street value of the drugs are expected to be released after the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
