Afrobeat songstress, Yemi Alade has expressed serious discomfort after spending a whopping sum of money on a gold teeth grillz.
The singer recently installed gold grills on her teeth which spelt her nickname “MAMA AFRICA” but she seems rather uncomfortable with it.
Grills, also called “grillz” or “fronts,” are decorative covers often made of gold, silver or jewel-encrusted precious metals that snap over one or more of their teeth.
They generally are removable but some grill wearers have had their teeth altered with gold crowns to permanently resemble a grill.
Gold grills usually cost anywhere from $800 (N328,696)to $2,500 (N1,027,175) per tooth; depending on how expensive the materials are and where you have them done
Some grills are made from non-precious (base) metals that may cause irritation or metal-allergic reactions.
At present there are no studies that show that grills are harmful to the mouth—but there are no studies that show that their long-term wear is safe, either.
The notable singer in an Instagram story on Saturday emphasized the discomfort the grill brings to her mouth while adding how it impairs her speech.
Yemi further asked if this is the same way other celebrities known for the same fashion go about their day.
She said; “I’m not even going to lie to you… grills
“I can’t even talk well… is this how your favourite artistes are doing it.. It’s harrrd.
“I used my money to go and *coughs*
